Vincent Van Gogh | Neo-Dimensionism
The follow up to the Francis Bacon painting. This painting seeks to prove the artist as an intuitive entity. While Vincent was many things he is in the wider public regarded as a victim of his psychosis; which he was to a point. While painting this piece I listened to an audio recording of his letters to his brother Theo which gave me an unprecedented insight into the man and his mind. This painting depicts Van Gogh as a present day sitter, his ascension to the afterlife and the legacy he leaves behind to this day.

Section of Triptych #1
Neo Dimensionism uses the human anatomy, some not visible to the naked eye to symbolically represent aspects of the human subjects life.
In the case of Vincent Van Gogh:
Eye / Orbital muscle - Input and perception of visual information
Jaw Muscles - Outbursts linked to psychosis, tension, clenched jaw.
Heart - Symbolic three ways:
Connection to Jesus Christ / Sacred Heart.
Passion for his work.
Explosive gunshot wound leading to death.
Intestines - Gut/Intuition (see third triptych for evidence).
Ingestion of turpentine accidentally leading to digestive troubles as noted in his personal letters.
Themed in the second triptych is Vincent's ascension to the afterlife:
Curled into the foetal position; physical body expiring; on the bare earth.
His other form in ascension looking down at himself.
His organs now cleansed and fresh
The pose; crucifixion reinforcing connection to Jesus Christ.
The halo; a martyr for the arts.
The obelisk; Egyptian symbol of piercing the sky to access the heavens.

The third triptych deals thematically with the legacy Vincent leaves behind.
Intuition at work: The clouds replicate Vincent's "Starry Night", now known to be the perfect visual depiction of turbulence.
Vincent's body feeds the earth; reincarnates as the cypress tree.
He painted the cypress trees more frequently before his death.
Vincent has reformed on the three dimensional plane once more.
